How RST handles your information
Last updated September 9, 2026
The short version: you can search for housing on RST without an account, without paying, and without telling us anything about yourself. If you choose to create an account, we keep only what makes the site useful to you, and we do not sell it.
Searching without an account
You do not need an account to search listings, open a listing, or save homes to a list. Lists saved while signed out are stored in your own browser and never reach us. Clearing your browser data deletes them.
What we collect if you create an account
- Your email address and a password, or, if you sign in with Google, your email address and basic profile information Google shares. We never see your Google password.
- Homes and lists you save, so they appear on your other devices.
- Searches you save, and whether you want email alerts for them.
- Details you choose to enter on your account page — name, phone, preferred contact method, household size, housing program, bedrooms your voucher covers, and when you hope to move. All of it is optional, and you can clear any of it at any time.
We do not ask for your income, Social Security number, or identity documents in order to search or save homes.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with advertisers.
- Our alert emails describe listings only. They never contain anything about your household, your voucher, or your circumstances.
- Your saved homes, searches and details are visible only to you. Other renters, landlords and partner organizations cannot see them.
If you are referred by a community organization
Housing navigators and caseworkers at partner organizations use RST to refer people to available homes. When a referral is made, the information in it — typically a name, household size, program and move-in timing — is shared with the property manager for that listing, and is visible to staff at the referring organization. That is what a referral is for.
Referral information is entered by the organization making the referral. If you want to know exactly what was shared about you, ask the person who referred you; they can see it and we would rather they answer than have us guess.
If you are a tenant using the tenant portal
Tenants invited by a landlord can see their lease, pay-related records, maintenance requests and documents their landlord shares. That information is visible to you and to staff at the organization managing your home.
Support access by RST staff
To investigate a problem, RST operators can open a support session that lets them see a landlord organization's workspace as its staff would. These sessions are read-only unless an operator deliberately turns on the ability to make changes, and every one of them is recorded in an audit log with who did it and when.
Listings
Listings on RST come from property managers and landlords who post them, and from publicly available rental listings we collect. We work to keep them current, but we do not control them and cannot guarantee that a listing is still available or that its details are accurate. Always confirm with the property manager.
Cookies and measurement
We use a small amount of browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember things like your saved lists when you are signed out.
We also use analytics tools to understand how the site is used so we can improve it. These include Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity. Clarity records how people move through pages, which can include mouse movement, scrolling and clicks. We use this to find parts of the site that confuse people. We do not use it to identify individuals.
We send email for things you asked for — confirming an account, resetting a password, alerting you about new listings matching a saved search, and messages related to referrals or a lease. Every alert email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can turn any saved search's alerts off without deleting the search.
Where your information lives
RST is built by Range Lab and runs on infrastructure operated by Supabase (database and sign-in) and Vercel (hosting), with email delivered through Resend. Range Lab operates several products on shared infrastructure; account records are separated by product, and staff at one product do not have access to another's data by virtue of that sharing.
Keeping and deleting information
You can delete a saved list, a saved search, or anything in your account details at any time, and it is removed. To delete your account entirely, email us and we will remove it.
Fair housing
RST exists to make housing easier to find. Discrimination in housing on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or disability is illegal under the federal Fair Housing Act, and Oregon law protects additional characteristics including source of income. If you believe you have experienced housing discrimination, you can contact the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries or HUD.
Children
RST is meant for adults looking for housing. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
